Julie Hobbs

Julie currently lives in Georgia close to her two grown kids, their families, and her parents. Most of her life, she has lived in the South, including South Carolina and Texas; however, she was born in Illinois and lived in Pennsylvania for several years, so she is no stranger to cold weather.

In Texas, Julie graduated high school, and she obtained an Associate in Science degree in 1987, followed by her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a specialization in accounting in 1990. While in college, Julie gave birth to two incredible children – Andrew and Christina – two years minus one day apart.

Julie moved her family to Atlanta and briefly worked for a company as an Accounting Instructor. She then accepted a job as Programmer Analyst for Litho-Krome, a subsidiary of Hallmark Cards. Julie’s role expanded into Project Manager as well and pretty much anything having to do with computers and telephones, and she was with the company for nearly 10 years. During her time at Litho-Krome, she met the love of her life, Gordon, to whom she was married for almost 22 years until his passing in 2016.

After her time with Litho-Krome, Julie worked for TSYS. a credit card processing company, where her roles included Senior Test Analyst, Test Consultant, Associate Manager, and Associate Director. While there, she returned to school and earned her Master of Science in Computer Science at Columbus State University. As Associate Director, she managed TSYS employees in three different cities in the U.S. as well as employees in India whom she personally visited and trained.

After nearly 19 years with TSYS, she retired and learned that Midsummer’s Music was seeking an Office Manager who was familiar with nonprofits and accounting, and she was hired in 2019. Julie took care of the office, handling phone calls and emails, overseeing setting up and taking down of concerts, supervising receptions, maintaining computer software, and managing the books to include providing monthly financial statements for the board.

Julie loves visiting Door County any time of year, but being there all summer was just a little too difficult when also wanting to be near her two adorable grandchildren and managing a home – all in Georgia – so she left Midsummer’s for a spell. Julie really missed Midsummer’s and the accounting work, so she returned as Accounting Manager, keeping the books and running financials again remotely.

“Midsummer’s Music has so much to offer, which makes me very happy to be a part of this amazing team of people. I’m inspired by the summers filled with breathtaking music in a beautiful county and by the diversity of composers whose music is performed by outstandingly talented musicians. The Griffon String Quartet moves me with its music lessons that are available for all the local youth, regardless of economic status, along with its outreach concerts for memory-compromised patients and their caregivers, and the free concerts that provide easy access for those who may have never experienced the joy of classical music. This is just the tip of the iceberg of what Midsummer’s does in the community.”
