SUMMARY:Dvořák\, Bruch\, and Beethoven 7
DESCRIPTION:Beethoven authorized his publisher to arrange his 7th Symphony for String Quintet. In an age when the symphony orchestra was relatively rare\, a chamber arrangement improved the opportunity for sales. This intimate and profound glimpse into the heart of the work is revelatory. Dvořák’s Notturno and Bruch’s recently published Quintet provide provocative precursors for this concert of masterpieces. \nNotturno in B Major\, Op. 40 – Antonin Dvořák\nTwo Violins\, Viola\, Cello\, and Bass \nQuintet in A Minor\, Op. Posthumous – Max Bruch\nTwo Violins\, Two Violas\, and Cello \nSymphony No. 7 in A Major\, Op. 92 [Steiner\, arr.] – Ludwig van Beethoven\nTwo Violins\, Two Violas\, and Cello \nDavid Perry & Ann Palen\, Violins • Allyson Fleck & Oryann Tsaig\, Violas • Mara McClain\, Cello • Kris Saebo\, Bass \nDavid is sponsored by the Nancy T. & David A. Borghesi Fund of the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry and Mary Hauser & Jerry Randall. Allyson is sponsored by Peter & Beverly Ann Conroy. Mara is sponsored by Bob & Alice Chrismer. Kris is sponsored by James Goodwin. \nReserve Tickets

SUMMARY:Mendelssohn Magic
DESCRIPTION:Mendelssohn’s 2nd Piano Trio is unsurpassed. The way he weaves a Bach chorale melody into the final movement is spellbinding and worth the ticket price alone. Two other trios\, each involving the flute of Heather Zinninger\, set the stage. Undine Smith Moore’s Suite is hauntingly evocative\, while Weber’s Flute Trio shows how much the Romantic Period is indebted to this German master. \nAfro American Suite – Undine Smith Moore\nFlute\, Cello\, and Piano \nTrio in G Minor\, Op. 63 – Carl Maria von Weber\nFlute\, Cello\, and Piano \nTrio No. 2 in C Minor\, Op. 66 – Felix Mendelssohn\nViolin\, Cello\, and Piano \nHeather Zinninger\, Flute • David Perry\, Violin • Mara McClain\, Cello • Jeannie Yu\, Piano \nHeather is sponsored by the Jean Berkenstock Family Fund. SUMMARY:Coffee Talk: Experience the Healing Power of Sound
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Maja Jurisic: Experience the Sound of the Fibonacci Sequence \nUsing crystal alchemy bowls and tuning forks to create the intervals\, Dr. Maja Jurisic invites you to experience the Fibonacci sequence as a sound journey at the Midsummer’s Music Coffee Talk at 1 PM on June 21st at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Ephraim. \nItalian mathematician Leonardo Fibonacci popularized a simple sequence of numbers where each number is the sum of the preceding two (0\, 1\, 1\, 2\, 3\, 5\, 8\, etc.) This sequence of numbers is still not completely understood and has a mystical allure\, as it manifests in diverse and complex ways\, both in theoretical mathematics\, and in the real world. \nIt appears in various natural phenomena (e.g.\, the arrangement of seeds in sunflowers\, the spirals of pinecones\, the arrangement of leaves on stems\, etc.). It’s also a fundamental part of mathematical structures\, is used in engineering and space exploration\, and is even applied in financial markets to identify potential market turning points and interest levels. And the golden ratio\, the relationship between two numbers that are next to each other in the Fibonacci sequence (dividing the larger one by the smaller one)\, has been used by artists and architects to create visually pleasing and harmonious compositions. \nThere is some research showing that the frequencies of the intervals of the Fibonacci sequence can shift our vibrational states of being by resonating with the pathway of consciousness from the pituitary axis (a system of endocrine gland pathways involved in managing our stress response) to the pineal gland (called the “third eye” in some spiritual traditions). These frequencies can open gateways that allow us to explore higher states of consciousness\, and have been used for enhancing creativity\, overcoming addictions and healing traumas. \nAll curious and willing passengers are welcome to join us for this Fibonacci frequency journey\, free of chemicals\, but riding high on sound. \n
