SUMMARY:SOLD OUT • Jim Berkenstock: From Cradle to Grave: Music's Unsung Duet with the Brain • Sister Bay
DESCRIPTION:This program is sold out. Please see the Midsummer’s Music calendar for how to view the program online on Tuesday\, November 9. \nJim Berkenstock\, President and Artistic Director of Midsummer’s Music\, invites you to a fascinating presentation entitled “Music and the Brain: The Unsung Duet” on Monday afternoon\, November 8. He will be joined by the Griffon String Quartet in an interactive exploration with you to answer questions like\, “Why do I enjoy music?” … “Do I have any hidden talent?” … “Is there innate musicality in infants that persist throughout life?” … “What hidden promises does music possess?” and “What musical secret did Einstein know about and employ?”\n \nAlong the way\, learn how music works and how we work\, especially from a musical standpoint. The presentation will be informal\, informative\, intriguing\, and it will be enlivened by the talent of the wonderful Griffon String Quartet. Admission is free but reservations are necessary. The session will last about an hour and will include a question-and-answer period. This program will be recorded for a virtual presentation on November 9 by the Brain Center of Green Bay as a part of its Guest Speaker Series.

SUMMARY:Jim Berkenstock: From Cradle to Grave: Music's Unsung Duet with the Brain • Brain Center
DESCRIPTION:A virtual program from the Brain Center of Green Bay\nJim Berkenstock presents From Cradle to Grave: Music’s Unsung Duo with the Brain \nWithin the last few decades\, a bounty of research has led to new insights into how humans process\, use\, and enjoy music. We now know that infants (even prenatal) recognize certain musical components well before language comprehension begins. We also know that adults with late-stage dementia\, who are beyond most normal means of communication\, are able to be reached in remarkable ways that can improve their sense of contact\, their behavior\, and feelings of well-being. \nGriffon String Quartet’s B Double Sharp program \nBrain Center of Green Bay\nhttps://www.braincentergb.org/better-together \nA generous grant from the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation funds a portion of the Griffon’s B Double Sharp programming to present mini concerts for the aging or disabled\, as well as their caregivers. \n
