What is the Griffon String Academy program?
The Griffon String Academy offers instruction in violin, viola, cello and small string ensembles, taught by the Griffon String Quartet. The program includes lessons, group classes, recitals for students and free concerts performed by the Griffon String Quartet for students, family members, and the community.

How/where do I pay?
Payment for an eight-lesson package is required in advance.

Are Scholarships available?
Yes, scholarships are offered for students on a needs basis.
How do I acquire an instrument?
Instruments are available to rent from Midsummer’s Music for $30 per month. The first month is free. Ask your Griffon String Academy teacher for more information.
Where are lessons located?
Lessons are offered in the following locations:
- MUSE – 330 Jefferson Street, Sturgeon Bay, WI
- YMCA – 1900 Michigan Street, Sturgeon Bay, WI
- Private studios in Green Bay
What are the available lesson times?
Lessons are held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays with a once a month group class on Thursdays. Specific lesson times will be coordinated with your private instructor.
What is the attendance policy?
- If your teacher cancels, the lesson will be rescheduled.
- If the student cancels, a 48-hour notice is required to qualify for a makeup lesson.
- One makeup lesson will be offered per 8-week session.
- Additional makeup lessons may be granted for absences due to illness or emergencies.
What are group lessons and where are they located?
Group lessons provide an opportunity for students to learn ensemble skills, including playing with peers, developing leadership, and finding inspiration. These classes are held at MUSE and are a valuable complement to private lessons.
