Excitement is building for our upcoming Big Top Door County event!
Rehearsals are under way, and excitement is building in anticipation of our Big Top Door County event this Wednesday, July 16th. A celebratory afternoon of catered food, beverages, and varied musical presentations in a large tent environment will celebrate the 35th anniversary of Midsummer’s Music in grand style. A highlight will be the auctioning of eight “musical chairs.” Some of Door County’s most acclaimed artists were each presented with a second-hand chair, which they have repurposed and turned into unique works of art. All will be available for purchase during the afternoon’s activities.
Guests will arrive on the scenic and rolling 51-acre Berkenfeld estate in northern Baileys Harbor and be greeted with their choice of beverages and hors d’oeuvres as they stroll the inviting grounds and greet one another under the large Big Top event tent. The musical portion of the program will include a number of well-known selections of different types performed by some of the country’s best musicians. Guitarist Eric Lewis will be joined by cross-over violinist George Meyer, and David Perry will lead the Midsummer’s Music Strings, which will include members of the Griffon String Quartet. Selections will include pieces by Mozart, Mendelssohn, and Bizet and original works by Eric Lewis (at times accompanied by the Griffon members) as well as some by Meyer and bassist Kris Saebo. It will be eclectic and engaging—perfect for a summer afternoon under the Big Top. Following the music will be a delicious catered meal served family style.
Before dinner, the Musical Chairs will be brought to the fore and auctioned one by one. Each is a unique work of art by different well-known Door County artists who will also be present. Throughout the afternoon, guests will be invited to stroll the groomed paths on the grounds and experience the beautiful expansive property that is Berkenfeld, perhaps imagining the role this special place could play in Midsummer’s future.
Reservations are necessary for this grand event, so call (920) 854-7088 or visit www.midsummersmusic.com for tickets or for more information. On-site parking will be available and club cars will ferry those on the grounds upon request. Our 25th anniversary sold out—don’t miss this chance to be part of THE event of the summer!
